STX Inc was founded in 1970 by Richard B.C. Tucker. STX created the double wall, synthetic lacrosse head, which was the first synthetic stick and the only type used to score goals in the first NCAA Men's Lacrosse Championship in 1971. Cornell outscored Maryland 12-6 for the win. Every single goal scored during the match was done so with an STX lacrosse head, a dramatic shift from just 12 months prior when wooden sticks were the standard. The new, synthetic type of stick has become the most common in the sport.
STX has pioneered nearly every equipment innovation in the modern game. STX has been credited with numerous contributions to both the men's and women's game with several key products such as the straight double wall head, the mesh pocket, the pinched sidewall head, the open sidewall head, the forward canted head, the aluminum handle, the composite handle, the offset handle. For five decades, STX has been pioneering the sport of lacrosse and bringing new technologies to the game for one reason: empower higher performance for the athlete.
In recent years STX has bought us some incredible technology to lacrosse equipment. Superflex as seen in the new STX RZR 2 gloves brings lightweight design yet doubles the number of blocks in key contact zones for superior flexibility and protection from slashes. The one piece back hand design not only means less weight, but also gives the player a whole new level of comfort and protection on the field. STX has always been at the forefront of men's head design so it's no surprise that the 2 best selling heads in the game right now at the Surgeon 1K and the Stallion 1K. Women's lacrosse players need to check out the latest sticks from STX, the Aria and the upcoming release...the Fuse. Make no mistake, the STX Fuse is going to be a huge hit in the women's game and you might want to look your eyes peeled as we know that there are 2 elite level women's sticks hitting the market soon from the games number one lacrosse brand.
