At a time when every brand is pumping out lacrosse heads that are marketed at specific positions and there being so many heads on the market that it can still be somewhat confusing when you are shopping for a new men's lacrosse head.
The Stringking 3V is the latest head by Stringking, it's predecessor hit the field way back in 2017 and quickly became a hugely popular head with players in both field and box lacrosse. No lacrosse brand has ever taken so long to bring out a new generation and that is kind of refreshing to be honest, talk about the 3V was flying around 2 or 3 years ago but it's been worth the wait.
It's much stiffer than the 2V, the extra strut along with new and improved plastic ensuring minimal warping and flexing over time. As much as I liked the 2V, the warping and flex led me to look at an alternative head. There are serious improvements on the 3V and it's making me consider adding one to my ever growing collection of personal sticks, I barley play these days but doesn't mean I don't get the urge for a new stick!
One feature that a few players could possibly dislike is the scoop, Stringking are known to have one of the best scoops and groundballs are super easy. The face shape of the 3V also feels just that little bit tighter, the design provides superior ball control and ball security in the pocket as the head is slightly flared to give a wide catching area while providing a tighter inner face giving great ball retention to the user.
If your one of those people who has been slightly confused by the Stringking's locking bolt then I highly suggest you take a good look at the following video as you'll learn something new. The bending back of a scoop when shooting (for those who can actually shoot harder than they fart) comes partly from the throat of the head, something that you might not ever have considered before but can lead to loss of accuracy and consistency.
The heads might well be more expensive than others but with rising costs and US tariffs on China and many others Countries that manufacture lacrosse equipment are going to hit the cost of most equipment going forward. Who knows, Stringking might just producing lacrosse heads in the US in the coming years.
