Apocalypse Now Dye Spotlight

Apocalypse Now Dye Spotlight

With all the dying going on here. I'm going to go back into the archives and look at my favorite dyes that Jason has ever done. This Apocalypse Now mini stick, this was dyed up for the Final Four of the 2017 Dyers Cup. This dye earned 222 of the 800 point pool (100 per judge), which was more than any other contestant this round. The head itself is a Nature Boy Kraken, they are great to dye and have a surprising amount of space to get some detail on.

This dye came out very clean, and where it did bleed the camouflage helps to hide it. I love how the backlit hueys pop, you can almost hear Fortunate Son playing in the background, but the underside of the scoop is where I think the best work is. The air cavalry insignia sits between the top string holes, which just pop on the sunset backdrop. Hopefully this year we can top this dye but it's going to be a big ask in my opinion.

Finally, the stick was off with this beautiful trad pocket, courtesy of Chris (otherwise known as @lacrossman)
