Here at Northern Soul we sell a huge number of women's lacrosse sticks from team and school orders of entry level sticks for new players to elite set ups for lplayers performing at the highest level of the game.
There are two sticks that have dominated sales for close to a year now, the Gait Apex 2 and the STX Aria Pro M. Unsurprisingly they are both midfield sticks meaning that they are versatile sticks that can appeal to attackers and defenders as well as middies. Let's take a closer look at both sticks and explain why you might favour one over the other.
Gait Apex 2
The original Gait Apex was outstanding. It really set the tone of what players wanted in a lacrosse stick to perform at a high level in the modern game. The only thing to let the Apex head down was it's long term durability. Make no mistake in the fact that the Apex 2 is stiffer and the overall build quality just feels way superior. The Curved Offset Technology provides superior control and quicker releases, giving you the edge when attacking the goal or setting up plays. Whether you're cradling under pressure or pushing the fast break, the Apex 2's unrivalled front pocket ensures maximum hold and confidence in your movements. The updated double sidewall technology expands the catching area while narrowing the channel pocket for ultimate control, allowing you to catch and release with precision, even during the most intense moments of play. Additionally, the new Air Scoop reduces weight and drag without sacrificing strength, making the stick faster and more manoeuvrable.
The only thing that we think Gait could possibly do to improve on the Apex 2 is to provide more options in their women's handle line. We can't be the only people hoping that Gait produce a composite handle with a raised textured feel.
STX Aria Pro M
Whenever STX develop an elite level midfield stick, they smash it. I mean they really outdid themselves with the Aria Pro M, it really is a stick for everyone including draw taking midfielders. In recent years too much focus on designing draw sticks that might well be great to take a draw but despite the advertising guff don't perform so well as a offensive stick. Fear not as we have here an awesome lacrosse stick that will serve you well when taking the draw and will match any other elite stick and then some both on offense and defense.
One feature that players really love is the Aria Pro M handle, with Dual Grip Zones - it offers a tactile, secure grip in all conditions and can assist when trying to control those high draw releases as well as provide you a nice grip when putting your stick one handed in to passing lanes to pick off a pass. The Integrated End Cap is a moulded design fully integrated into the handle, no more lost end caps.
