20 Years Of Maverik Lacrosse

20 Years Of Maverik Lacrosse

Jason Perrin |

Wow. 20 years. Doesn't time fly when you're having fun. I actually remember the early days of Maverik and wondering if the new kids on the block could make a dent in a market dominated by STX, Cascade, Warrior and Brine. Well the boys done good, really good.

Maverik Lacrosse was founded in 2005 by professional lacrosse player John Gagliardi. The company is known for designing, developing, and manufacturing lacrosse equipment, apparel, and accessories. In 2010, Maverik was acquired by Kohlberg Sports Group, which also owns Bauer Hockey. The company is headquartered in Long Island City, New York.

Here's a more detailed look at Maverik's history:
  • 2005:
Maverik Lacrosse is founded by John Gagliardi, a Team USA player and All-World Defenseman, and Jay Jalbert, a Team USA player and All-World Midfielder.

    Early focus:
The company's initial focus was on creating innovative products designed by lacrosse players, for lacrosse players.

    2006:
Maverik launches the Wonder Boy Shaft, one of their early signature products.

    2010:
Kohlberg Sports Group acquires Maverik Lacrosse, bringing it under the same umbrella as Bauer Hockey.

    2011:
Bauer Performance Sports Ltd., which included Maverik, went public

    2012:
Maverik merges with Cascade becoming one of the largest lacrosse brands in the game

    2013:
The company launches the Optik lacrosse head leading to a franchise of successful heads for the brand

    2017:
The highly successful Max Protective line hits the fields setting the tone for future equipment.

    2020:
Cascade and Maverik all repurpose their production facilities to produce face shields for medical professionals battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

    2021:
Maverik introduces EKG Shoulder Pads to meet the new Commotio Cordis standard.

    Continued Innovation:
Maverik has continued to develop and release new lacrosse equipment, including some very exciting new products for the upcoming season with a new line of Max protection that is sure be be a huge hit and the Kimera lacrosse head designed for the do it all midfielder.

    Commitment to Safety:
Maverik, alongside Cascade, has been proactive in addressing safety standards, such as those related to commotio cordis, an area of concern for lacrosse players.

With a shared vision with Cascade you really do feel that Maverik have greatness ahead of them. They are producing some phenomenal lacrosse equipment right now and yet I genuinely feel they are only scratching the surface.
