When you start collecting you will always have a few things that are "Holy Grail" items, so rare that you may never fine one. What makes a lacrosse head rare? Short production run, high number of breakages, withdrawn from sale due to recall or maybe it never made it beyond being a sample or even a concept head. The D80 is a tough head to find, harder still to find unbroken and yet this one looks unused.
The Brine D80 AKA "The Spoon" is a defensive head from the early 1980s. Brine wanted to make this “the defensive head of the decade”, so they made a huge head what would pick off passes, have a huge checking area and be easy to pick up ground balls....only for the ball to then fall out of the crazy wide pocket.
The D80 lasted less than 2 years in the Brine's line of lacrosse equipment and due to being so unpopular with defenders. It was offered with a factory mesh or a traditional pocket in blue, red and white, although I am yet to see a white one in the wild.
I wonder if the Warrior Warp will have a greater value in 40 years than it does today?
