ECD Lacrosse is one of the most recognizable brands in the game producing some of the best lacrosse equipment on the market today. But as all things they started from humble beginnings, Greg Kenneally had always been the "stick doctor" for his team and after graduating from Elizabethtown College was stringing and dyeing lacrosse heads which he would sell via social media and ebay.
During 2011 Greg developed his own waxed mesh and started East Coast Dyes which was run out of his basement. By 2012 the small business had grown and twin brother Mike jumped on board as the ECD fanbase grew, Greg would ship the orders and Mike would make the mesh, some of which was regularly heading over to Northern Soul here in the UK. This was fast becoming more than a side hustle, the twin brothers were also earning their master's degree in accounting at the time and could see the potential ECD had to grow in to something serious. The Kenneally Brothers were soon joined by friends Dave and Ryan.
Early 2013 saw Mike's college roommate Ben join the ECD team as they demand grew and interest from retail stores across North America. With 5 employees they had outgrown the basement and in May 2013 ECD relocated to a 2000 square foot facility in Lutherville, Maryland but they rapidly outgrew that space too and had to move again later that year to a 9000 square foot space. More orders, more staff, more space but that space was too small by spring 2016 they took over a neighboring warehouse space totaling 21000 square foot which would house a 1800 square foot turf, offices, warehouse and a small army of staff.
You can see how the company motto “Hard Work Pays Off” is a reminder that success does not come without hard work.
