In the run up to the return to school and the start of the new season it's always a busy time for us at Northern Soul but this year women's lacrosse goggles have been flying. Although they are still not mandatory in the UK lacrosse leagues we have seen more clubs and schools insist that they are worn.
When we place orders with our US suppliers we have to forecast the sales for the year ahead, no easy task at the best of times. Keeping goggles in stock has been a challenge so far and we really need to thank our rep at STX for being on hand when we've large numbers of goggles shipped out at short notice.
One nice change this season has been that more customers seem better informed as to sizing of lacrosse goggles, only the slightest of 11 years old would fit a pair of youth sized goggles. The STX 4 Sight Plus S are still the biggest seller of goggles due to the cost and the goggle of choice for schools that provide their girls with goggles.
The STX Focus S have proven to be a popular step up and certainly have a softer feel on the face than the cheaper model, always a hot seller when we vend at events and players get to try them on.
Despite Gait now only offering one model of lacrosse goggles in the Glory 2 they have proven to be the goggle of choice for those players looking for high end protection with a low profile look. The best feature of these googles is that they are insanely lightweight, a compact design and titanium wires allow players to forget they are even wearing them.
One thing is clear as day, wearing goggles is fast becoming the norm within the UK lacrosse community.
